Things To Remember Before You Visit
Basic Requirements For Drop-Offs
A safe motorized vehicle is required to drop off waste for disposal, and all loads must be properly secured.
Walk-ins, bicycles, and manual transportation devices are not permitted. Any unsafe vehicles or unsecured loads will be refused entry.
During peak periods (11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.), priority is given to City-operated and contracted vehicles operating on behalf of the City.
Fees for Drop-Off Depots
A deposit will be required before you are allowed to dispose of your material.
The deposit amount will depend on the estimated size of your load and the type of material. A minimum $40 deposit will be required for all loads.
Payment Methods: cash, debit or credit card (only Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards are accepted).

What You Can and Can’t Drop Off
Election Signs
These types of election signs, including wooden and metal stakes are accepted for recycling at Drop-Off Depots:
- Corrugated plastic (i.e. Coroplast)
- Fibre-based (paperboard)
- Plastic film (i.e. “sleeve” style signs)
Disposal Instructions:
- Separate all wooden stakes, metal supports and screws from the signs.
- Dedicated containers will be provided at the Drop-Off Depot for each material.
- Consolidate plastic sleeve signs in a clear plastic bag and tie shut when full.
- Remove all staples from the signs as they damage recycling equipment. Any signs with staples are considered garbage and regular disposal fees will be charged.
- Do not bundle corrugated plastic signs.
- Do not mix signs made of different materials.
Electronic Waste
Accepted: Display Devices (Televisions, Monitors), Telephones & Accessories, Computers & Accessories, Printing, Copying & Scanning Equipment, Stationary & Portable Audio/Video Systems, Musical Instruments & Equipment, Other (Cameras, Calculators, Smart Watches).
Not Accepted: Appliances (fridge, freezer, microwave oven, etc), Vacuum cleaners, Air conditioners, fans, Power tools, Children’s toys, Textiles, clothing, furniture or any other upholstered and stuffed articles containing electrical/electronic equipment, String lights, light bulbs, Batteries, unless supplied with the electrical/electronic equipment, Remote controls, unless supplied with the electrical/electronic equipment, VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and cassettes.
Household Hazardous Waste
Accepted: Includes household chemicals, paints, cleaning agents, batteries, propane tanks, aerosols, oils, and any other items labeled “corrosive,” “flammable,” “toxic,” or “explosive.” Examples are bleach, pesticides, gasoline, varnishes, and motor oils.
Not Accepted: Biomedical waste, asbestos, radioactive materials, ammunition, and any items in mixed or improperly labeled containers.
Renovation Waste
Accepted: Baseboards, Bathtubs, Cabinets, Countertops, Doors, Drywall (1 tonne maximum, only accepted at Bermondsey, Ingram, and Commissioners Drop-Off Depots), Fencing, Insulation, Lumber (4 feet maximum), Plaster, Pressure-treated wood, Roof shingles, Siding, Tiles.
Note: Remove nails, screws, metal corner beads, ceramics, wood etc.
Not Accepted: Ammunition, Asbestos, Asphalt, Boats, Bricks, Cinder blocks, Concrete, Dead animals, Gravel, Paving stones, Rocks, Sod and grass clippings, Soil and sand, Stones.
Tires
Accepted: Only passenger and light truck tires on or off rim
Not accepted: All other types of tires
Metal
Accepted: Auto parts and bicycles, Lawnmowers, Large/small appliance, Tools, pipes and cable
Not accepted: Large machinery, mixed material items containing metal and other materials, and items exceeding 4 feet in length.
Mattresses
Accepted: Mattresses should be unwrapped and unbound.
Not accepted: Mattresses that are infested with bed bugs should be wrapped in plastic.
